Sunday afternoon brought with it a familiar sight for fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Alliance of American Football was playing out its inaugural week of games with a former Alabama running back leading the way for the Birmingham Iron.
Trent Richardson got the nod for the Alabama-based team and helped power the Iron to a dominant 26-0 win. Richardson also made history for Birmingham by scoring the franchise’s first ever touchdown. It wasn’t the most flashy score in the history of football, but it was effective. Richardson simply took a handoff at the four-yard line and scampered into the end zone to make some history for the iron and give the team a 15-0 lead.
