K-pop band BTS is no stranger to social media fame, and their appearance at the Grammys red carpet Sunday only further cemented their popularity.
The group, which is presenting at this year’s ceremony, turned many a head ahead of music’s biggest night. Their popularity should come as no surprise: They were the most tweeted-about artist in the U.S. in 2017 and the most tweeted-about celebrity on the planet this year.
Sunday night, tweets about the stars exploded within minutes, gaining thousands upon thousands of retweets, including USA TODAY’s Carly Mallenbaum.
They said that attending the show was “a dream come true.” As for their overwhelming fandom, the group told E!: “It’s a blessing we can get so much love for doing what we love to do. … We are so thankful.”
BTS fans could hardly control themselves, with many using the hashtag #TearItUpBTS.
“HOW ARE THEY EVEN REAL?” one user loudly asked.
“Proud is an understatement,” another wrote. “We’ll be seeing these 3 photos the whole year. I’m sure of that,” one user said, sharing several photos of the stars on the carpet.
