ENGvIND: England defeats India in second T-20, equal to series 1-1

Thanks to the strong half-century from Alex Hales (58 not out), England defeated India by five wickets in the second T20 match played at Sophia Gardens Stadium here late last night. With this victory, the hosts have equalized 1-1 in the three T-20 matches series. The target of 149 runs given by India was achieved by England losing five wickets and remaining two balls.

England also started poorly

England’s start was poor, and the MZ team lost their first wicket as opener Jason Roy (15) at the score of 16. He was dismissed by fast bowler Umesh Yadav. After losing the first wicket, England lost the next two wickets soon and the home team scored 44 runs at the loss of three wickets. After this, Alex Hales and captain Eoin Morgan (17) shared 48 runs for the fourth wicket. Hales hit 41 fours in his innings and hit four fours and three sixes. By routing out Margin, the partnership was broken by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. After the marching, Hales collided with Johnny Bairstow (28) to take England’s innings.

Virat Kohli scored 47 runs

By sending the pavilion back to Bearsto, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave mejaban the fifth blow to the team but he could not win India. For India Umesh Yadav took two wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Yuswendra Chahal took one wicket each. Earlier, the Indian team, batting after losing the toss, gave the challenging target to the hosts, thanks to captain Virat Kohli’s 47. India started off poorly and opener Rohit Sharma got himself caught by fast bowler Jack Baal on personal score of six. India’s score was just 15 runs so that the second blow to the visiting team by Shikhar Dhawan (10).

Lokesh Rahul scored 6 runs

Lokesh Rahul, who has scored an unbeaten century in the first match of the series, could not handle the Indian innings. Liam Plunkett made a clean-ball on Rahul’s private score of 6. After this, Kohli and Suresh Raina (27) added 57 runs for the fourth wicket to help the hosts handle the faltering innings of the team. Raina was dismissed and spin bowler Adil Rashid gave India a fourth blow.

Dhoni scored 32 not out

After Raina’s dismissal, Kohli added 32 runs in partnership with wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni (32 not out). Although Kohli could not complete his half-century, fast bowler David Wiley sent the pavilion back. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 12 runs. Wiley, Baal, Plunkt and Rashid took one wicket each for England.
