OxygenOS 5.1.6 update for OnePlus 6, adds Portrait Mode for the front camera, battery percentage in status bar, and many more

OnePlus latest phone i.e. OnePlus 6 is rolling out its update with a nice selection of changes and improvements. OxygenOS 5.1.6 adds some notable highlights, such as Portrait Mode for the front camera, fixes dual-SIM stability issues, adds battery percentage icon to the status bar, support for VoLTE on Idea in India, and several other things.

OnePlus started seeding the much-awaited OxygenOS 5.1.6 update to OnePlus 6 users through OTA (over-the-air). The size of the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update is 223MB and this is a global update and especially those in Europe (Germany and France), Canada and final HydrogenOS update for the OnePlus 6 in China.

Portrait Selfies

This is the much awaited updated for OnePlus 6 as the camera is one of the basic things that user want on their phone. Smartphone-like OnePlus 6 do need some important update related to the camera. Now OnePlus 6 users can click selfie portraits to the device. With its amazing camera, there is also a minor upgrade in rear camera. With the minor upgrade in rear-camera portrait mode, you can also now preview the light bokeh effect in real-time (similar to Live Bokeh on Nokia 7 plus) on the OnePlus 6.

Battery percentage was the missing feature that OnePlus 6 users want on their phone. OnePlus 6 users had been requesting since launch to show the battery percentage indicator in the status bar. It was moved in the notification shade to save space around the notch. Now, OnePlus listened to the community and added the same back to the status bar with this OxygenOS update.

Other Changes

Other changes include the schedule do-not-disturb (DND) mode, optimize call quality and adjust the dual-4G network options. There is also a major update in OnePlus 6 as there are Earphone Mode settings, to now allow you to automatically attend calls when you have a Bluetooth headset hooked to the device.

Indian users should be happy to see that the OnePlus 6 now supports VoLTE on their carrier, and stability fixes for dual-SIM. Selfies lover can Portrait Mode, for using the shooting mode on the front camera and if you’re using Portrait with the rear lens, you can now see a preview when using the Light Bokeh effect.

With the addition of battery percentage indicator in the status bar OnePlus has listened to their user complaint and they have added this feature to OxygenOS update. Continuing on with the notable changes, DND mode can now be scheduled, the phone supports a dual-4G network option, and you can automatically answer calls when connecting to Bluetooth devices.

These updates are rolled out through OTA right now starting in Germany and Canada. You can always try the classic VPN trick, go with Oxygen Updater, or wait for its update.
