Xiaomi is a privately owned company that designs, produces, and sells smartphones, an Android-based OS, and other consumer electronics. Xiaomi also makes fitness trackers, TVs, air purifiers, and lozenges. It has a skin for its Android phones and tablets – MIUI. The company largely sells its phones via flash sales in India.
Xiaomi is among the top smartphone players in the Indian market and it is also aggressively looking at expanding its offline play in the country.
In 2014, Xiaomi entered into the Indian market, selling smartphones online exclusively through Flipkart. Yet, a year after, it partnered distributors to sell devices through brick and mortar stores as well.
When Redmi Note 4 was launched, Xiaomi India head Manu Jain had said that the company hopes to sell double the volume of the device’s predecessor, Redmi Note 3.
Xiaomi was quite successful with the Redmi Note 3 in India. It became their best-selling smartphone with over 3 million units traded in India last year. Offering a balance of great design, excellent performance and most importantly a long lasting battery, in a low price. The smartphone is even believed to be the best budget smartphone.
Redmi Note 4 doesn’t look very different from its predecessor, but when you took a close look of it, you will start seeing minor changes in Redmi Note 4. Xiaomi has done some polishing over the existing design of Redmi Note 4. You will still get a metal back, only a bit more polished and more premium look. The front of Redmi Note 4 has become more attractive, as the front is flat with a 2.5D curved glass finish and the back has a slight curving closer to the edges.
There are also some other prominent changes in Redmi Note 4 like the speaker grille from the back is now moved to the bottom edge. There are some symmetrical design changes as well like the headphone jack and infrared sensor on the top, the front camera and light sensor flanked on either side of the earpiece and the MicroUSB port sitting in the middle.
Redmi Note 4 was launched in three variants – 2GB RAM/32GB memory, 3GB RAM/32GB memory and 4GB RAM/64GB memory – are priced at Rs 9,999, Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively.

The Redmi Note 4 display comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS LCD display. Xiaomi says that it has improved color calibration with 401 ppi, which makes it sharp and colors look great with a hint of blue tone. Redmi Note 4 becomes premium with curved glass on top, although the bezels still look similar with some trimming done on the top and bottom.

Note 4 color tone can be adjusted by going into the display settings. Viewing angles and sunlight readability is great, although it has some defects. Xiaomi has taken a great care by adding features of enabling the reading mode option in their Redmi Note 4, which adds a blue light filter to reduce strain on your eyes. It looks and feels good and is quite responsive.

Redmi Note 4 Software:

Redmi Note 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 out of the box. Although this isn’t the new operating system, it has its own set of features which are neat.  Xiaomi has confirmed that it has released the Android 7.0 Nougat program which is available in Beta.

The MIUI 8 recently got updated which makes the experience very smooth. The UI is fast and you still get apps like the Mi Remote app, Mi Store, a system manager to clean and manage your handset and more.

Redmi Note 4 Performance:

Xiaomi claims that the new Snapdragon 625 is a lot more efficient. The new Qualcomm chip has an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz with eight Cortex A53 cores built on the new 14nm FinFET architecture. There will be no problem with Note 4 processor because Apps open quick, games are perfectly smooth and the UI is fast and responsive.

Redmi Note 4 gaming review is pretty good, high-end games like Asphalt 8 and Real Racing 3 was great, but with minor frame drops. Note 4 gets heated when you play some heavy games for a long time, but you won’t  struggle in terms of performance.
Redmi Note 4 has an improved speaker in it. Xiaomi had heard consumer feedback and have worked on improving the loudspeaker. Xiaomi has significantly improved it, as It’s now louder a bit more refined, although not the best loudspeaker, but definitely a good update.

Redmi Note 4 didn’t done much update when the topic come to the camera, it would similar to Redmi Note 3.

Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi has loaded a new 13MP CMOS f/2.0 aperture camera made by Sony which has 5-piece, 77-degree wide-angle lens and the sensor is said to offer bigger pixel size. Note 4 camera also comes with PDAF and a dual-tone LED flash.
The app offers modes like slow-mo, manual controls, time lapse, straighten mode and more. The camera app is quick and responsive. Xiaomi has improved the HDR mode. Redmi Note 4 will still struggle with low light photos.
The 5MP front camera of Redmi Note 4 is pretty much the same as it was on the Redmi Note 3. It features a beauty mode where you can make your face slimmer and skin cleaner. The overall quality of the front camera was just average.

Redmi Note 4 Battery Life:

Xiaomi hasn’t done many changes when it comes to Note 4 battery life. Xiaomi has gone ahead and put the same 4,100mAh battery which featured on the Redmi 3s/3S Prime. Xaomi claims that they have improved the performance on Redmi Note 4 battery, by the introduction of new processor in it i.e. Qualcomm’s new 14nm SoC architecture. Xiaomi claims that the new handset sees a 25 percent improvement in the overall battery life
Redmi Note 4 is the one to go for if you are looking for long battery life. In terms of charging, Redmi Note 4 gets fast charging with 2.0, which we know isn’t the fastest. Charging from 0 to 100 takes about two hours.

Xiaomi has been always been spot on with the pricing and including the new variant was also a good decision. The 2GB+16GB variant is priced at Rs 9,999, 3GB+32GB for Rs 10,999 and 4GB+64GB for Rs 12,999.

So, these are the Redmi Note 4 specifications. In my opinion, Redmi Note 4 is a nice update. Xiaomi is trying to overcome the challenges that they were facing in Redmi Note 3 like improvement in speaker and sound quality. We know that there are some defects in Redmi note 4 but still, you are getting awesome features in such a budget smartphone. If you recently invested in the Redmi Note 3, then I think you shouldn’t upgrade to the new handset. If you are however planning to buy a new smartphone, this will keep you happy.

Do share your views if you bought Redmi Note 4, as this will help others to buy Redmi Note 4.
